Pulse was originally developed as part of the ERí06 Youth Festival.
The original emphasis of the project was on youth participation and diversion, but the award of the full-time Community radio license led the project to grow into something much bigger.
Pulse 98.4 started broadcasting full-time at the end of July 2009.
Although the station has a large number of young volunteers, it has participants of all ages and it looks to reflect the views, opinions and talents of the East Renfrewshire communities. We try to give a voice to those who are seldom heard on mainstream broadcasting and we offer a variety of training and volunteering opportunities for local people.
The station aims to build strong relationships with community organizations, volunteer groups and local businesses and is also committed to working closely with all East Renfrewshire schools.
We believe that there is a vast well of untapped talent and ability waiting to be brought to the attention of the world at large, and our station is run by a team of volunteers who are all committed to spreading that message.
With young people involved in front of the microphones and behind the scenes, Pulse is developing not only the stars, but the station management (and community leaders) of the future.
With the support of our key partners, Pulse is run as a non-profit-making making enterprise and any funds that are raised go into the running costs of the station.
